Service for Students - Panopto

Panopto is a content management system for videos that was developed specifically for teaching. Panopto is hosted at the University of Mainz and technically administered by the Virtual Campus Rhineland-Palatinate. The University of Kaiserslautern-Landau has its own instance, which is managed at the RPTU in Landau ny the Landau e-learning unit.

FAQ and Instructions

You can find Panopto at the following URL: http://panopto.uni-landau.de.

Please contact us for technical problems at the email address e-learning(at)uni-landau.de. We will try to help you as soon as possible. Please send us a detailed error description, unfortunately we can't do much with statements like "I can't log in" or "it doesn't work". A good error description should contain the following information:

  • What exactly did you try to do? Describe how you proceeded.
  • What exactly does not work? Does an error message appear?
  • What browser and operating system are you using?
  • Send us a screenshot of the entire page (including the browser's address bar) from which you got stuck.

Students are generally not granted creator rights for Panopto. However, there are two scenarios where students need creator rights for specific areas:

  • Student assistants who need to upload and edit videos as part of their official duties: Please contact your supervisor and they can grant you creator rights for their area.
  • Students who need to upload videos as part of a course: Please contact your instructor, they will need to provide you with an assignment folder.
